How the estimate is calculated

What's a bidirectional (net) meter?

It records two separate values: units you imported (drew) from the grid, and units you exported (sent) to the grid from your solar system. Most PM Surya Ghar installations use one.

How is "Total Self Consumption" calculated?

Total Self Consumption = Solar Generated − Export + Import. It represents your home's total energy usage for the period — the solar power used directly plus whatever was still drawn from the grid — which is why it's used as the "bill without solar" baseline.

What if my export is higher than my import?

Under most DISCOM net-metering policies, surplus export units are banked and adjusted against future bills or settled at an annual true-up — they aren't usually paid out as cash. This calculator flags that case rather than showing a negative bill.CONFIRM
